Associate Teacher, Classical String Performance
The appointee will administer the MA Classical String Performance programme at the University of Limerick. S/he will play an active teaching and administrative role at the Academy (including some teaching at undergraduate level). S/he will work closely with the Irish Chamber Orchestra (ICO) to build the reputation and standing of classical string performance on the UL campus, as well as nationally and internationally.
The catalyst for the development of the MA Classical String Performance at the Academy was a longstanding creative collaboration with the ICO, including ACADEMOS Irish World Academy Strings, the string ensemble at the Irish World Academy. The aim of the programme is to provide students with the highest level of instrumental tuition in a variety of repertoires, with a specialist interest in string solo repertoire, chamber music and chamber orchestra repertoire, within the context of a professional chamber orchestra. As part of its broader approach, the programme also explores aspects of specialised performance tuition within an environment that combines academic and performance interests in a variety of music and dance genres.
This post requires high level performance, administrative and teaching skills, including, but not limited to:
- Teaching classical string performance in a dynamic pedagogical environment
- Administering modules of the M.A. Classical String Performance programme in a wider university context
- Contributing to, monitoring and developing the relationship between the ICO and UL
