Call for Papers: Social Interaction and Change through Music
The theme for this year’s conference invites scholars to address issues related to research on music and the use of music as a medium for social, political and cultural action, interaction, and change. ICTM particularly encourages scholars researching instrumental music, popular styles, community music, music therapy, folklore studies, musicology, ethnomusicology, and applied research inside and outside the academy to contribute to the discussion. Papers that address the following topics will be especially welcome:
- Music and community
- Music and belonging
- Music and inclusion
- Politics and music
- Music and memory
- Music and identity
- Music as heritage
Conference conveners welcome submissions of 200-word abstracts from all relevant academic fields. Session presentations will be 20 minutes long. Shorter postgraduate presentations of works in progress may also be considered. ICTM Ireland aims to include an even mix of research on Irish and non-Irish case studies. Once again ICTM particularly welcomes short (10 minutes max.) video extract submissions, which will be shown between panel sessions. See further details at the link below.
