Conor Guilfoyle Octet @ Galway Jazz Festival

Conor Guilfoyle Octet @ Galway Jazz Festival

Sunday, 7 October 2018, 12.00pm

There’s no better way to ease into Sunday afternoon than with a supmtuous brunch accompanied by music from an ensemble including eight of the hardest swinging, tightest playing and fastest rising young players currently gracing Irish jazz. The ensemble is led and mentored by Ireland’s drum guru Conor Guilfoyle who is one of our foremost drummers and educators and has toured and recorded with some of the world’s greatest jazz musicians. Having led various Latin jazz and salsa bands over the last 20 years this is his first time leading a jazz ensemble. The members were all handpicked by Conor and represent some of the top young musicians on the scene today.

The music is a look back to the 1950’s to a style often associated with the west coast of America known as “Cool Jazz” as well as arrangements of hardbop classics by Horace Silver, Benny Golson and Tadd Dameron. Expect tight section playing and great soloists all underpinned with a swinging rhythm section.

Ticket includes a two course brunch and a glass of prosecco! Bróinse agus prosecco le do thicéid!
