Assistant or Associate Professor of Applied Horn
Duties:
Teach undergraduate and graduate applied horn; teach horn pedagogy and literature; and coach chamber ensembles. In addition, the successful candidate will rehearse and perform with faculty ensembles as assigned, serve on selected committees, perform as a soloist both on- and off-campus, and may be assigned other duties based on individual strengths and the needs of the School of Music. The active recruitment and retention of horn students to develop and maintain an applied studio of distinction is an essential role of this position.
Qualifications:
Successful teaching experience at the collegiate level is required. A doctorate in horn performance or closely related field is required to achieve tenure, although professional equivalency may be considered. A positive, demonstrable record of recruitment and retention at the collegiate level is highly desirable. Candidates must be able to demonstrate oral proficiency in the English language as a requirement for this position, as mandated by state law.
