Centre Manager, Centre for Research in New Music, University of Huddersfield

Background
The Centre for Research in New Music (CeReNeM), University of Huddersfield comprises a group of internationally active researchers working in new music composition, performance and music technology. Recent funding success enables the centre to appoint a Centre Manager and a Research Fellow, funds a programme of high-level international collaborations and supports an expansion of our position in the areas of new music and audio technology.

Role
The Centre Manager will be responsible for the administration of all CeReNeM activity and publicity and will play a crucial role in developing applications for external funding. 

You will have substantial administrative and management experience preferably in higher education, excellent written and spoken communication skills, experience in writing academic research and/or arts funding grants and experience in event/arts management and publicity/promotion. You will be able to work on your own initiative as well as part of team. A PhD in an area related to music is desirable and a degree in the Arts and Humanities field is essential. Experience in managing audio, video and web documentation of work is an advantage as is knowledge of and enthusiasm for new music.

You will work closely with the Centre’s Co-Directors, Liza Lim and Monty Adkins, also liaising with other centre members and the university community.

Specific duties
Co-ordinate activities of the centre’s international research network; co-ordinate, attend and co-host centre events (seminars, symposia and concerts); write funding applications and provide assistance for the funding applications of the Centre’s members; manage the publications programme (HCR CD label, Divergence Press Journal); lead in the development of a range of sophisticated measurements of research impact for the centre’s work; co-ordinate travel and other arrangements for visitors and staff; co-ordinate the Centre newsletter and other internal and external communications, including maintaining the Centre website and social media accounts; manage the video documentation of events and dissemination via YouTube/iTunesU; manage publicity and promotion of the centre both nationally and internationally; produce reports and maintain budgets.
