David Leigh is organist and assistant master of the music at St Patrick’s Cathedral, Dublin. He pursues a busy career as conductor and keyboard player, working frequently with the National Symphony Orchestra, RTÉ Concert Orchestra, Ulster Orchestra and Chamber Choir Ireland. He is musical director of the University of Dublin Choral Society and of chamber choir The Gaudete Singers. David held organ scholarships at the cathedrals of Blackburn and Lichfield, and then at St Peter’s College, Oxford during which time he read for a music degree and was also assisting organist at Magdalen College. During this time he also studied organ with David Sanger and with Nicolas Kynaston.

David pursues a busy schedule of solo recitals in Ireland and further afield, which have included the complete organ symphonies of Vierne, all of Messiaen’s organ music in collaboration with Tristan Russcher, and all of Max Reger’s major works for organ. He was only the fifth person to perform Christus, Francis Pott’s 150-minute Passion symphony for organ. David has released five solo CDs (most recently a programme of symphonic music on the newly restored organ of St Fin Barre’s Cathedral, Cork, and a disc of organ duets recorded with Charles Harrison in Lincoln Cathedral, all of which have received favourable reviews from critics.
