A Gig for Gareth
Ireland’s radio presenters, concert promoters and music artists have announced the first of two planned concerts in support of renowned radio presenter Gareth O’Callaghan, who recently stepped back from broadcasting to concentrate on battling MSA, a virulent form of Parkinson’s disease.
A host of special guests will celebrate Gareth’s remarkable radio career, from pirate days, to real high seas adventure with Radio Caroline, his 2FM days and his sojourns in the independent sector with Galway Bay FM and Classic Hits.
On Tuesday October 16th, Mary Black and her band will be joined by John Spillane, Declan Sinnott, Ger Wolfe and special guests for a musical gathering that is sure to please. Many of Gareth’s colleagues from across the spectrum of Irish radio have pledged support and publicity for the events, which is a fantastic non-partisan demonstration of the affection in which Gareth is held among Irish broadcasters. All proceeds from both concerts will help to defray Gareth’s medical costs, with the Cork concert being kindly promoted by Pat Conway of Lobby Promotions and Vicar Street by Pat Egan. All involved will give of their time and talent for free.
