Liam O'Brien and Hajime

Monday, 25 May 2015, 8.00pm

Liam is from Miltown Malbay, Co.Clare. He was brought up in a very musical family where he learned a lot of his music. He first started learning the tin whistle when he was four from his mother. He later went on to take up the concertina and attended to classes with Noel Hill for many years. Then he went on to study in BA Irish Music and Dance course in University of Limerick where he met Hajime, who also came to the course from the other side of the world, Tokyo, Japan. Hajime found Irish traditional music when he was around 16 years old after playing the guitar for few years and then later decided to move to Ireland to learn Irish traditional music.

Since they met, Liam and Hajime have been playing music together and travelling the world. They have been all across Europe, Africa and spent the Summer of 2012 touring Japan. They recently recorded tracks and released them online where they got a huge response.

Liam has been teaching the concertina and banjo as a part of the Brid O’Donohue School of Music for the last six years where his popularity grows and grows.
