Irish music and musicians were prized in Renaissance Europe, and this special concert explores the marriage of Irish and European music from the 16th and 17th centuries. It features celebrated musicians from the traditional, classical and early music worlds - Paula Murrihy (Mezzo Soprano), Eamonn Bonner (Tenor), Cormac Breatnach (Susato Whistles), Colm Mac Con Iomaire (Violin) and Eamon Sweeney (Lute, Early Guitars) - performing music by 17th century composers John Dowland, Ruairí Dall Ó Catháin, and from the traditional canon.

This concert is curated by Eamon Sweeney, Music Network Artist in Residence 2018. Commenting on the residency, Eamon Sweeney says, “I am excited and grateful to have this fantastic opportunity to bring together many of my favourite artists in one great venue and present a varied programme of outreach and concerts which reflects my passions – Early Music, Irish Music, Poetry, Song, Music for Children and Babies”.
