Research Associate in Music/Hip-hop Studies

The Department of Music seeks to appoint a Research Associate in Music/Hip-hop studies to provide support in both the research and administration of the AHRC-funded Leadership Fellowship ‘Regional Rap in post-Devolution Britain’ (http://gtr.rcuk.ac.uk/projects?ref=AH%2FP005853%2F1). You will be assisting the Principal Investigator on the project’s aims while developing research independently, yet related to, regional rap in the United Kingdom. Additionally, you will be helping to organize related impact events and their publicity.

Based in the Department of Music, you will possess a PhD in music and/or a topic related to hip-hop studies. Ideally, you will have experience in ethnographic methods, public engagement activities, IT systems, and excellent communication and interpersonal skills. You may also possess familiarity with related subfields that engage with hip-hop studies, which could include geography, linguistics, music analysis, race and/or gender studies. You will have an emerging research profile that we are keen to help foster.

The post is a full-time (1.0 FTE) position with fixed term funding available for 9 months. The University welcomes any applicants who are interested in job share and part-time work
