The Orthodox Spirit

Starting with the Irish premiere of Arvo Pärt’s Kleine Litanei, paying homage to a great theologian and thinker of the Early Middle Ages, the Irish Benedictine monk St Virgil, this unique recital continues with a selection of Russian Orthodox Church Music from the 17th to the 21st centuries as we visit the Russian masters and inhabit the world of church Slavonic with extracts from Rachmaninov’s  All-Night Vigil, and works by Bortniansky, Stravinsky and more.
