Aluminata was set up in 2014 by music teacher Pat Sheehan. The original concept was a past pupil female vocal ensemble of St. Aloysius College Students of Carrigtuohill. Aluminata’s sound has been described as spine chilling and stunning. In its two years Aluminata has won the All-female Voice Choirs Competition in Feile an tSamhriadh and won Best Overall Choir on the day. They have performed fundraising concerts for numerous charities including Cork Dawg, the Simon Community and funds to help Nepal. Aluminata also performed in Ballymaloe House in conjunction with the Cork School of Music showcasing up and coming artists and musicians. The up-coming concert ‘Daughters of Eirinn’, September 11th, is Aluminata’s contribution to the 1916 celebrations. The text and compositions in this concert have Celtic connection and showcases the female voice in different genres.
