Owen Gilhooly, one of Ireland’s finest tenors, performs a song-recital of music ‘alla Zingarese’, or inspired by the Gypsy life, with pianist Niall Kinsella. Repertoire includes Brahms’ Zigeunerlieder, Dvořák’s Gypsy Songs, and Don José’s aria from Bizet’s opera Carmen. Also joined by Irish virtuoso string players Lynda O’Connor (violin) and Gerald Peregrine (cello), piano trio will perform Haydn’s Gypsy-Trio and an arrangement of Verdi’s ‘zingarelle’ choruses from La Traviata. Be transported to the Hungary, Bohemia, Spain, Vienna and Paris of another era with this beautiful and spirited music.
