Bach’s hilarious coffee cantata shows a different side to the composer’s serious church music. Written to be performed in Leipzig’s main coffee house, this nonsensical whirlwind of a cantata features a petulant daughter, and an exasperated father persuading her to break her addiction to coffee or risk all her marriage prospects. Award-winning young Irish singers feature in this and other works, under the direction of harpsichordist David Adams, with the Royal Irish Academy of Music Baroque Ensemble.
