Woodwind instrumentalist and composer Seán Mac Erlaine will present material from his acclaimed Ergodos-released debut album, Long After the Music is Gone, as well as material from a new solo record. Mac Erlaine’s highly-developed solo language is a meditative blend of lyrical jazz melody, incisive dissonance and late-night electronic ambience.

Mac Erlaine is recognised as one of Ireland’s most forward-thinking jazz musicians. He works in a variety of settings maintaining a busy performance schedule in Ireland and internationally, working in free improvisation, contemporary jazz, folk music and experimental theatre. An accomplished instrumentalist, Mac Erlaine plays alto and soprano saxophones as well as clarinet and bass clarinet. An in-demand collaborator in addition to his solo work, Mac Erlaine plays regularly with This Is How We Fly, Quiet Music Ensemble and Ergodos Musicians.

Holding a practice based PhD, a first degree honours Masters of Music (Jazz Performance) from DIT and a Diploma in Jazz Performance awarded by the Guildhall School of Music, London, Mac Erlaine performs with a hugely diverse range of musicians and artists reflecting his own versatility and interest in cross-platform work.
