Female Conductor Programme

Female Conductor Programme

Friday, 30 June 2017, 5.00pm

The Female Conductor Programme is a 10 month programme which we hope will encourage high calibre female musicians to take up the baton and take the first step onto the podium to become orchestral conductors.

The National Concert Hall, with the generous support of Grant Thornton, and building on existing programmes in other countries, will work with Alice Farnham to guide six novice conductors through 10 months of workshops and rehearsals. The programme will cumulate with a showcase concert with the RTÉ National Symphony Orchestra in summer 2018.

The NCH is looking for Teachers/Lecturers/Heads of Schools and Ensemble Conductors to nominate a student who they feel has the potential to become an orchestral conductor, given the right opportunities.

Who is eligible?
Female musicians over the age of 18, who have already reach a high standard as musicians, and who may not previously have considered becoming a conductor.

How do you nominate a student?
To nominate a student all you have to do is send an email to education [at] nch.ie (subject: Female%20Conductors%20Programme)  explaining why you think they would be a suitable candidate, along with their contact details and a short biography outlining their musical experience to date.

Nominations will be accepted until 5pm on June 30th, and the selected candidates will be announced in late summer.
