The Irish World Academy of Music & Dance at the University of Limerick is seeking a Lecturer below the Bar in Songwriting.

QUALIFICATIONS:  
• Doctoral Degree (level 10 NFQ) in Songwriting or a related discipline

OVERALL PURPOSE OF THE JOB
To provide leadership in the area of Songwriting, particularly within the MA Songwriting programme, and to contribute to the Voice pathway of the BA Performing Arts, within the overall context and ethos of the Irish World Academy of Music & Dance, University of Limerick.

DESCRIPTION:
Essential Criteria
• Doctoral Degree (Level 10 NFQ) in Songwriting or a related discipline.
• A proven track record of research interest in a relevant area.
• A proven track record of Songwriting in a popular music or related idiom.
• A demonstrable ability to communicate effectively in an environment of innovation in teaching and learning practice.
• A demonstrable ability to coordinate administrative responsibilities relevant to an academic programme of study.
• An ability to form strong academic and performance relationships across a wide range of interests at the Irish World Academy.
• A resonance with and an ability to contribute to the developing programmes at the Academy.
• Experience in innovative and performance-based teaching.
• Relevant academic, and/or professional, and administrative experience.

Desirable Criteria
• Experience of teaching at third level.
• A specific performance skill relevant to Songwriting.

Contract Type: Tenure Track (five-year fixed term). During the term of the contract the successful applicant will have the opportunity to apply for tenure in accordance with the University’s Policy and Procedures for Granting Multi-annual Status to Entry-level Academic Staff

Salary Scale: €38,348 - €52,722 p.a.
