Music Journalism: Making a Magazine
Part of New Music Festival 2017

This course, over a series of six weekly sessions, offers participants the opportunity to develop skills in interviewing, feature writing and editing, leading towards as a team planning, researching, writing, designing and editing a magazine about PRS New Music Biennial 2017. The course also involves access to a Southbank Centre gig and all the PRS New Music Biennial performances at Southbank Centre. 

The finished magazine is given out as the programme for the New Music Biennial Weekend at Southbank Centre Friday 7 - Sunday 9 July.  Participants are also invited to blog live on the Southbank Centre website over the weekend. 

Please note that there is a long editing day scheduled for Saturday 1 July to finalise the magazine design. Additionally participants should be available for all or part of the weekend of Friday 7 - Sunday 9 July to write reviews for the Southbank Centre blog.  A schedule for this is to be drawn up during the course. 

This course costs £40. Free bursary places are available. Please indicate in the application form if you would like to apply for a free bursary place and we will contact you individually with criteria. 

The application deadline is Sunday 14 May, 6pm. You will be informed if your application is successful by Tuesday 16 May.
