Skipper's Alley / The Young Folk / Let's Set Sail

Saturday, 4 May 2019, 7.30pm

One night, three incredibly talented bands! On Saturday 4.5.19 LoSt LaNe Dublin are so excited to bring together these three absolutely magic acts ranging from folk to electronic.

Skipper’s Alley are a contemporary Irish folk band with an old-school approach. Their influences range from folk revival bands such as Planxty and The Dubliners to experimental solo players like Tommie Potts and Séamus Ennis.

The Young Folk have spent the last two years extensively touring Australia, New Zealand and America, and following another sold out tour of New Zealand in January and February, the band return to Dublin for their first Irish gig of 2019, playing an acoustic set of new material in Dublin’s newest venue, Lost Lane.In between tours, songwriters Paul Butler and Anthony Furey have spent the last year writing and recording a third studio album with the release expected late 2019. The band have taken their time with the new album as they feel they’re moving in a new direction.

Let’s Set Sail began as a songwriting project for two university students studying classical music composition. This project has gradually evolved into a 4-piece band, tastefully blending acoustic and synthetic textures to produce well-crafted electronic folk songs. These songs contain honest, relatable lyrics that often permeate the music with a distinctly Dublin flavour.
