La France III

La France III

Saturday, 6 January 2018, 12.30am

On January, 5th 2018 Brooklyn Art Song Society (BASS) begins the new year with the third chapter in its ambitious festival La France: La Belle Époque. This concert features four beloved composers at their most elegant and refined: Hector Berlioz, Emmanuel Chabrier, Gabriel Fauré, and Reynaldo Hahn. Also featured are some of todays best young singers: BASS-favorite soprano Kristina Bachrach performs masterpieces by  Gabriel Fauré; mezzo soprano Annie Rosen (Chicago Lyric Opera, BASS debut) performs Hector Berliozs epic Nuits d’été; and baritone Michael Kelly (winner, Joy in Singing) performs rarely heard gems by Emmanuel Chabrier. This concert will be proceeded by a pre-concert lecture by CUNY professor Patricia Mainardi, an expert on French painting in the 19th -century.
