THE GIRLS ARE BACK IN TOWN
Ladies in the Blues music theatre show premiered to SOLD-OUT audience two nights in March 2017. The show went back to sell out again last March in Mermaid Theatre, Wicklow. After critical acclaim and the hit of Cork Jazz Festival in Oct 2017, the ladies recently returned to Cork to play the Everyman Palace in April and performed at the Townhall Theatre Galway in May.
This live music show, charting women’s role in the evolution of the blues includes singers - Clara Rose, Ireland’s songstress of rockin’ blues who has recently toured with the great Don Baker; Bray native, Emma Nicolai; Dun Laoghaire Queen of Vaudeville, Jhil Quin on washboard and vocals and introduces singer songwriter, Grainne Hunt.
The show’s ‘house band’ comprises Ed Deane on guitar, James Delaney on keys, Eoghan O’Neill on bass and Kevin Malone on drums. This band, the cream of JJ Smyth’s Irish blues scene, have performed on world stages and have released a single from the show “Jelly Roll”. The album "Ladies In The Blues Live" is now on sale.
