About the scholarships

Music at The University of Glasgow is pleased to announce TWO £5000 PhD scholarships for students hoping to begin doctoral study in the 2015/16 academic session.  The two successful candidates will also be expected to take a lead role in the organisation of 2015-16 Sound Thought festival.

We are open to a broad range of potential research areas and would welcome applications from students whose intended research would complement existing research areas within the department.  These include: 

- Composition (including sonic arts and intermedia/audiovisual composition)

- Historical and Cultural Musicology, particularly modernity in musical culture

- Popular Music Studies

- Scottish Music & Musicians
