It’s extraordinary to think that, in the four years since the Marble City Sessions began, Martin Hayes and Dennis Cahill have played with a host of outstanding musicians – from viola da gamba master Jordi Savall to bluegrass legend Ricky Skaggs – yet they have never played together as a duo. This evening’s concert sets the record straight, offering a wonderful opportunity to experience the collaboration that started it all in its pure, unadulterated form. Performing a typically exuberant mix of jigs and reels, these two virtuosos remind us just how they have taken Irish traditional music to new heights.
