Kreisberg meets Veras

Kreisberg meets Veras

Monday, 8 October 2018, 8.30pm

The greatest collaborations often are built upon two unique personalities that combine to create something beyond and outside of what the two had achieved individually. When those two musical individuals are like minded, yet possess their own specific sounds and approaches, the results can challenge the two to reach new heights and bring exhilarated audiences along for the ride.

Such is the musical friendship of guitarists Jonathan Kreisberg and Nelson Veras, and their upcoming recording and tours will introduce audiences to a new sound in the world of guitar.

Combining timeless melodicism and american swing with forward–thinking lines and textures, the music of Jonathan Kreisberg continues to attract a growing international fan base. The guitarist has performed 20th century works with the New World Symphony under Michael Tilson Thomas; led his own groups and recorded several critically acclaimed cd's, and played and recorded with Dr. Lonnie Smith, Joe Locke, Lee Konitz, Bill Stewart and Larry Grenadier among others.

Nelson Veras has long been one of the Guitar world's great secrets, possessing a unique style based on a mixture of classical guitar techniques, modern jazz and classical harmony, and his Brazilian roots. He was "discovered" by Pat Metheny at age 14 and went on to win numerous awards before he was even 19. He has performed/recorded with Steve Coleman, Michel Petrucciani, Tomasz Stanko, and Manu Kaché among others.

ON NELSON....“His improvisations are magnificent. It’s been quite some time since an artist like this has emerged, with a creative power that’s absolutely unquestionable. Nelson, BRAVO !” - Pat Martino

ON JONATHAN... "He is a great musician whose playing and writing always tell a story. His formidable technique and intellect never get in the way, but only serve the agenda of the heart." Vibraphonist and Composer, Joe Locke

ON NELSON...."“Nelson isn’t a guitar player like the others because his approach is not guitaristic but one that reveals a peerless musician. One that never plays what’s obvious but only pleasant surprises with a mind blowing technique. He’s an extraordinary musician.” - Lionel Loueke

ON JONATHAN.... He is a passionate musician with great vision, and he is constantly in fiery pursuit of innovation." Legendary Hammond B3 Organist, Doctor Lonnie Smith
