Small Towns Big Ideas

Tuesday, 20 March 2018, 4.00pm

Galway will be the European Capital of Culture in 2020, a year in which hundreds of projects and events will take place bringing audiences and artists together from near and far in a celebration and exploration of three central themes –  language, landscape, and migration.

“Small Towns Big Ideas” is one of Galway 2020’s flagship programmes. It celebrates “Meitheal” – the ancient Irish tradition of coming together for a common purpose, working together to ensure that all succeed in achieving a goal. Any community from Galway City and County can apply for support to work with artists or cultural practitioners on projects.

Funding:
Projects can request part-funding or full-funding for the amount required, starting at €1,000 to a maximum contribution of €20,000.

Small Towns Big Ideas will be delivered in two waves:
The first wave will be in 2018 – total available €300,000. A second wave of funding will be announced in 2019. Communities may apply for both waves. Please note that events and projects should take place within a year of announcement of support.

The Small Towns, Big Ideas Programme is open to all community organisations from across Galway City & County. All applications must demonstrate they have met the criteria outlined in this document.
