Lis Rhodes Scholarship in Musical Multimedia
The Department of Music and Drama at the University of Huddersfield is pleased to invite applications for the Lis Rhodes Scholarship in Musical Multimedia for PhD studies starting in September 2019.
As part of a range of PhD scholarships at Huddersfield named to honour significant contributions to British musical life, this scholarship recognises the work of Lis Rhodes, a pioneering figure in experimental film. Her multidisciplinary practice is particularly innovative in its integration of sound and image, and the political engagement of her work is reflected in the department’s commitment to inclusive, community-driven approaches to music technology.
The scholarship recipient will be affiliated with the Centre for Research in New Music, which includes a key research strand in musical multimedia and sonic arts, including creative work and practice-led research in film music composition, sound design, sound and music in documentary film, videogame design and engagement, immersion and user experience, site-specific installations, and multimedia art .The Centre is also committed to expanding industry links and supporting student enterprise in both solo and collaborative ventures.
