AOIC Vocal Production- Galway

AOIC Vocal Production- Galway

Saturday, 17 February 2018, 11.00am

Many choral singers request help with vocal production issues or need a refresher on the basics of healthy, natural singing technique, breath control and support and posture. In this workshop, efficient ways for the body to support the voice will be explored using natural techniques and vocal exercises & warm-ups that enable the singer to use their body to maximize their vocal potential to support the voice. It will be delivered by Alan Leech.

Alan Leech is one of Ireland’s leading tenors and choral practitioners. He has been a member of Chamber Choir Ireland for the last 14 years, where he also facilitates their education projects. As well as chamber music Alan has also performed with most of Ireland’s leading orchestras and choirs
in oratorio and concert performances. He is much in demand as a voice teacher, and has been teaching singing at the Leinster School of Music & Drama since 2003 where he also lectures in Aural Skills and Choral Conducting for Griffith College’s H Dip in Music. Alan also teaches Voice at undergraduate level in St Patrick’s College, Dublin City University. Working both as a professional singer and singing teacher is central to Alan’s significant contribution to the greater choral community in Ireland. He has worked as a vocal consultant for the Association of Irish Choirs on their annual Choral Conducting Summer School and for the Ulster Youth Choir. Outside of the traditional choral world Alan has facilitated workshops in Coolmine Rehabilitation and also Cork prison. Alan’s extensive experience and abilities in the choral area have led to invitations from several bodies to develop choral programmes both with young and older people.
