Professor of Music
Northumbria University is seeking to appoint a Professor of Music to establish music as a discipline within the Department of Humanities. As Professor of Music, the appointee will work alongside the Head of Department, Professor Julian Wright, to develop an outstanding culture of research, teaching and partnership, building a team to develop new curricula from Foundation Year to PhD level. The successful candidate will bring significant leadership experience, an international reputation for research in their field, and the capacity for building partnerships and communicating with a range of other stake holders, from music hubs and schools to major arts organizations.
Applications will be considered from candidates working in the fields of Music History; Musical Performance; or Music, Society and Management. We particularly welcome applications that speak to the established and developing strengths in the Department of Humanities, which include literary, artistic and popular culture from the early modern to the present; activism, internationalism and social justice; American Studies; environmental humanities and medical humanities.
