Call out for Early Years Music Practitioners

Dún Laoghaire-Rathdown County Council Arts Office in partnership with Dún Laoghaire-Rathdown Childcare Committee: Call out for Early Years Music Practitioner/s

dlr Arts Office has initiated several early years visual arts projects in the past 5 years. We now wish to link with Dún Laoghaire-Rathdown County Childcare Committee to provide a bilateral approach within Dún Laoghaire-Rathdown County to promote music in early childhood. We are now seeking music practitioner/s to develop, facilitate and deliver this programme.

The successful candidate/s will be asked to:
– Design and deliver a workshop series (a minimum of 24 workshops would be expected) for early years children and their families for dlr LexIcon, the new central library and cultural centre in Dún Laoghaire from October 2014 to March 2015.
– Facilitate a maximum of 4 professional development training sessions for early years professionals on incorporating music into their early years curricula and 2 sessions for local parents/guardians with their children aimed at understanding creative play through music. These will be achieved in conjunction with Dún Laoghaire-Rathdown County Childcare Committee.
– Work with the project partners to monitor and evaluate the project with participants throughout the duration of the project.

Guidelines:
– All successful applicants will be subject to Garda Vetting.
– Selection will be based on the written submission and any additional supplementary material supplied only.
– Applications received after Monday the 1st of September at 12 noon will not be accepted under any circumstances.
– Emailed applications will be deemed ineligible.
– Applications that do not include 3 hard copies as requested will be considered ineligible.

Please apply in writing and include 3 hard copies of each of the following (email applications will not be accepted)*
– Curriculum Vitae with relevant experience
– Practitioner statement clearly outlining your interest in the call out and relevance of the opportunity of your work to date
– Two referees (must be related to early years music)
– A detailed programme proposal, to include the proposed content, timeline and evaluation methods
– Detailed budget breakdown – to include all costs and expected expenditure
– Supplementary information that will support the application, for example short description of relevant previous projects and photographs/audio or visual documentation*

* Please note that supplementary information will not be returned to applicant (applicants should ensure that they do not send any unique or irreplaceable material).

Selection criteria and marking
– Relevant experience of engaging with early years’ professionals and children through music.
– (Marks will be awarded out of 50)
– Quality of proposal.
– (Marks will be awarded out of 30)
– Relevant qualifications (Early Years and Music)
– (Marks will be awarded out of 20)

Budget
The maximum amount available will be €8,000 (this amount is to be fully inclusive of fee, expenses, insurance and VAT. Please note that the successful candidate/s will be required to have Public Liability Insurance. Non-Vat registered service providers may be liable for Professional Services Withholding Tax). The successful applicant is liable for all tax within Ireland and internationally.

This project is supported by the Arts Council.

Tax Clearance
The successful applicant will be required to provide a Tax Clearance Certificate if you or your business is likely to supply goods or services to Dún Laoghaire-Rathdown County Council exceeding €10,000 in a twelve month period.

Insurance
The successful applicant agrees to keep the Council fully indemnified against all claims howsoever arising and howsoever caused in respect of any damage, loss or injury of any kind or nature, whether arising directly or indirectly from the provision by them of any services or activities and to provide evidence of Public Liability insurance which indemnifies Dún Laoghaire-Rathdown County Council with a limit of indemnity of €6.5 million.

Freedom of Information
The provisions of the Freedom of Information Act 1997-2003 apply to Dún Laoghaire-Rathdown County Council.  Applicants should state if any of the information supplied by them is confidential or sensitive and should not be disclosed in response to a request for information under the aforementioned Act.  Applicants should state why they consider the information to be confidential or commercially sensitive.
