Head of Higher Education & Course Leader

The post holder will be a highly experienced, dynamic professional with a strong background in music and in education who will share responsibility for the leadership, creative development and delivery of all the academic activities of BIMM Manchester. The post holder will be directly accountable for the quality and creativity of delivery of the curriculum and will work in conjunction with the Head of Education to ensure excellent standards are maintained across all BIMM Manchester provision.

Excellence in teaching and learning delivery is crucial to meeting the objectives of all BIMM courses and you will be responsible for ensuring that this high standard is met across our provision at BIMM Manchester, working with tutors to strive for innovation in the classroom and excellent creative outcomes for students. You will be supported by the College Manager and the College Management Team in order to be able to maintain a full awareness and understanding of our Quality and Academic Standards and those of our partner Colleges. This is a management role that will include some classroom teaching.

In overseeing all members of the full and part-time teaching teams you will conduct regular reviews and appraisals monitoring the quality of teaching, learning and assessment. You must be a team player who is used to working to tight deadlines, ensuring that staff and students alike are able to meet exacting standards of educational excellence. It is crucial that the post holder is truly passionate about education for the creative industries and strives to preserve and nurture the individuality and creativity of our students by building a learning environment that thrives on originality and pushing boundaries.

Essential criteria for Applicant
 – At least two years’ experience within Higher Education management
– Excellent skills in an area of the music industry as well as relevant industry experience
– Experience of working with Further and Higher Education Institutions
– Excellent interpersonal, communication and negotiation skills
– Excellent level of IT skills
– Strong background in the delivery of quality teaching and learning
– Experience of dealing with awarding partner

Desirable Criteria
– A teaching qualification or willingness to gain one
MA Level qualification or willingness to gain one
