Arts Council of Northern Ireland to host Intercultural Arts Symposium
The Arts Council is hosting ‘The Art of Inclusion’, an intercultural arts symposium on Tuesday 21st October at the Duncairn Centre for Culture and Arts.
Key note speaker at the event will be Madani Younis, Artistic Director of the Bush Theatre. Prior to Madani being appointment to the Bush Theatre, he was Artistic Director of Freedom Studios in Bradford, Yorkshire where his work included the site-specific work, The Mill – City of Dreams. He has also worked nationally and internationally as theatre director, writer and practitioner.
The symposium will explore current practice in Intercultural Arts with contributors including Robbie McVeigh, researcher, writer and activist on racism, Gerri Moriarty, arts consultant and evaluator for the Arts Council’s Intercultural Arts Programme, Community Arts Partnership, leading on the Programme for Intercultural Arts Support and arts organisations promoting interculturalism through their programming and activities.
This symposium aims to provide an opportunity for debate and discussion on Intercultural Arts practice and development, particularly audience development. This is a free event but spaces are limited and booking is essential.
