New Music Dublin 2018

New Music Dublin 2018

Thursday, 1 March 2018, 11.00am

NEW MUSIC DUBLIN is a partnership initiative of the National Concert Hall, RTÉ Orchestras, Quartets and Choirs, and the Arts Council / An Chomhairle Ealaíon.

Taking place at the National Concert Hall and beyond, the festival programme includes concerts, world premieres, talks, walking tours, films, all-ages events and late night shows focused on new music: from classical to electronica, alt-rock to sound art, choral to experimental and much more in-between.

Now in its fifth outing, New Music Dublin 2018 has been curated by composer John Harris, who is also chief executive and artistic co-director of the Red Note Ensemble in Scotland. Speaking about the festival, Harris says:

New Music Dublin is all about escaping boundaries, whether boundaries set by musical genres, or boundaries set by bricks and mortar, or the boundaries of our own musical expectations. It’s about the journey as much as it is about the destination, it’s about leaving home and finding treasure along the way.
