Leading Irish chamber ensemble Musici Ireland join forces with Irish Songmakers for this concert, which features Schubert’s famous “Trout-Quintet”, based partly on his song “The Trout”. In addition to this chamber music masterpiece, Irish mezzo-soprano Sharon Carty and pianist Niall Kinsella perform a selection of Schubert songs on the theme of “Rivers, Lakes & Seas”, including “Die Forelle” (The Trout), “Erlafsee” and “Fischerweise”.

Musici Ireland is a diverse and flexible ensemble that collaborates with Ireland’s finest musicians. Formed in 2012 under the artistic direction of Beth McNinch, they have developed a reputation for producing unforgettable chamber concerts for audiences of all sizes. They have enjoyed two highly successful concert series at the National Concert Hall, most recently their 5x5 series in 2017. This celebrated their 5th Anniversary by showcasing their favourite programmes in a series of five lunchtime recitals.

Musici Ireland in brings chamber music to new audiences, constantly challenging themselves, building on repertoire and programming exciting new works mixed with traditional pieces.

Winner of the RAAP/RTÉ Lyric FM Classical Breakthrough Music Bursary, and an Artistic Partner of Irish National Opera, Irish mezzo-soprano Sharon Carty is a graduate of the Royal Irish Academy of Music Dublin, Universität für Musik und darstellende Kunst, Vienna, and an alumna of the Opernstudio programme at Oper Frankfurt.

The 2018/2019 season sees her make debuts in cities such as Drogheda, Newry, Amsterdam, Cologne and Moscow with highlights including Mendelssohn’s “Paulus” at the Kölner Philharmonie, Hasse’s “Marc Antonio e Cleopatra” in Tchaikovsky Hall Moscow, Gluck’s “Orfeo ed Euridice” at the Galway International Arts Festival, “Arias for Tenducci” with Ensemble Marsyas at Drogheda Classical Music, Bach’s “St.Matthew Passion” on tour in Holland and the world premiere of Dennehy’s “The Second Violinist”, as well as returning to sing again with the Irish Baroque Orchestra for concerts of “Messiah” and a tour of baroque opera arias.  www.sharoncarty.com 

Irish pianist Niall Kinsella studied at the University of Music and Performing Arts, Vienna and at the Royal Irish Academy of Music, Dublin. In July 2017, Niall studied at the prestigious Franz-Schubert-Institut, in Baden-be-Wien, Austria, where he worked with pianists Roger Vignoles, Julius Drake, Helmut Deutsch, Wolfram Rieger, and singers Elly Ameling, Robert Holl, Birgid Steinberger and Andreas Schmidt. In August 2018, he was a student of Lieder Interpretation at the International Summer Academy of the Mozarteum University, Salzburg

Niall has performed extensively as an accompanist throughout Europe - in Austria, Czech Republic, France, Italy, Spain, United Kingdom and in Ireland - in venues such as Wiener Musikverein & Konzerthaus, Mozarthaus Vienna, St. Martin-in-the-Fields, London, and regularly at Dublin’s National Concert Hall, where he curates and performs an annual series of song recitals.
