Creative Ireland to Receive Larger Increase than Arts Council in 2018

€4.1m increase compared to €3m for Council.

The budget for Creative Ireland – the new Irish Government initiative on creativity and culture – will be €8.5m in 2018. €4.4m has been spent on the programme to date, following its launch in December 2016.

Creative Ireland’s increase will therefore be €1.1m more than that allocated to the Arts Council, which will receive €3m.

The information came to light following a Freedom of Information request by Sinn Féin. It also revealed that over €1.2m of the Creative Ireland budget has been spent on promotion, including €760,000 on media advertising, €330,000 on social media and €192,000 on website development.
