Ergodos Announces Global Distribution Deal with Cargo

Label releases will be available from Tokyo to San Francisco.

Dublin-based label Ergodos has announced a global distribution deal with Cargo Records. The development ensures that the label’s releases will be available in record shops from Tokyo to San Francisco.

A London-based distributor over 20 years in the business, Cargo’s list includes labels such as Denovali, Sub Rosa, Important, Secretly Canadian and Tzadik.

Ergodos’ artists – ranging from woodwind improviser Seán Mac Erlaine to composer Simon O’Connor – join a catalogue that includes music as diverse as Godspeed You Black Emperor, Tindersticks, White Stripes, Glen Campbell and John Zorn.

Commenting on the development, Ergodos co-founder Garrett Sholdice said:

We’ve spent a long time looking for the right distributor to bring our releases out into the world. We see that Cargo are an ambitious and experienced company, and an excellent fit for Ergodos, with many kindred spirits across the catalogue.

Joe Bangina of Cargo Records commented: ‘Ergodos is an exciting label with a rich and diverse range of releases that will fit right in. It’s a pleasure to have Ergodos on board – a welcome addition to our catalogue.’

Ergodos, now with over two dozen releases, was founded by composers Benedict Schlepper-Connolly and Garrett Sholdice in 2006. The label will be joining over one hundred other record labels at the Independent Label Market in London on Saturday 23 July.
