Nine Irish Artists to Perform at SXSW
Nine Irish artists will perform at the 2018 SXSW Festival in Austin, Texas, on 9–18 March, several of which are part of two showcases presented by Music from Ireland and Culture Ireland.
The music, film and tech conference and festival SXSW (South by Southwest) is an important international platform for new bands and performers. It hosted 2,985 performing artists last year.
The Music from Ireland Official Showcase will be held at The Velveeta Room on Thursday 15 March. Starting at 8pm the event will run until late night, with performances from Touts, The Lost Brothers, The Strypes, Saint Sister, Le Galaxie, and Talos.
The following day, The Full Irish Breakfast at B.D. Riley’s begins at 12pm and presents more Irish acts (Joshua Burnside, The Lost Brothers, Talos, Touts, The Strypes and Le Galaxie) as well as a traditional Irish breakfast. The Academic and Dermot Kennedy will also perform at the festival.

London Music Trail and Showcase
Music from Ireland will also present a series of showcases at the London Irish Centre as part of the GB18 programme. The series will begin with a day of Irish female artists on St Patrick’s Day with a music trail at Camden market, followed by events at Dr Marten’s Boot Room and the London Irish Centre.
