The Journal of Music (originally JMI: The Journal of Music in Ireland) was founded as a bi-monthly magazine by musician and writer Toner Quinn in 2000.
Over thirteen years, the magazine has broken new ground in music writing and won Irish and international awards, notably a design award from the Periodical Publishers’ Association of Ireland and the Utne Independent Press Award for Arts Coverage in Washington DC.
In March 2011, the magazine was launched as an online publication. The current editor is composer, musician and producer Benedict Schlepper-Connolly.
