The Journal of Music was founded by musician Toner Quinn in 2000. The current editor is composer Benedict Schlepper-Connolly.
The Journal published 58 print issues between 2000 and 2010 and was awarded the Utne Independent Press Award for Arts Coverage. In 2006, Simon O’Connor won the PPAI Designer of the Year award for his work on the magazine.
In March 2011, the magazine was launched as an online publication.
The Journal of Music’s mission is to connect people to the musical life around them. We help audiences discover new music, and musicians discover new opportunities. The Journal publishes news, listings and opportunities throughout the week and has attracted over 97,000 different readers in the past year
