The Association of Irish Composers’ annual composition sumer school is now in its thirtieth year. Its 2012 edition will take place from 4 to 13 July at DIT Conservatory of Music in Rathmines in Dublin.
The school is being directed by composers Martin O’Leary and Kevin O’Connell, and will feature performers Paul Roe (clarinet), Dermot Dunne (accordion) and Richard O’Donnell (percussion), who will record student pieces written on the course. Principal guest composer will be the Dane Bent Sørensen, currently visiting professor at the Royal Academy of Music in London, who will present seminars as well as giving individual tutorials.
The course costs €290, with the fee for per-day observation standing at €30. Closing date for applications is 1 June.
