Ergodos Musicians tour a new production this month based on the music of the Mediaeval French composer Léonin. All the Ends of the Earth, which includes music by Garrett Sholdice, Benedict Schlepper-Connolly and Linda Buckley (the current RTÉ Lyric FM Composer-in-Residence), was premiered at the Issue Project Room in Brooklyn, New York on 6 October, and will appear at the Project Arts Centre, Dublin on 29 October.

Léonin’s Viderunt Omnes, an example of twelfth century two-part organum — an early form of polyphony involving a plainchant paired with a faster upper voice — provides the source material for the entire show, which includes two singers as well as clarinet, cello and piano. A work from the production, Linda Buckley’s Revelavit, which is sung by mezzo-soprano Michelle O’Rourke, will be released on Ergodos Records later this month.

Ergodos Records recently released two recordings by the ensemble’s clarinettist, Jonathan Sage. Fluence features two pieces by English composer Alexander Harker — the title track was commissioned and premiered in Ireland. A new recording of American composer Steve Reich’s New York Counterpoint, a piece for eleven clarinets all played by Sage, forms the second release.
