Amstel Quartet and Maria McGarry at the National Concert Hall

NewSoundWorld's next monthly concert will be given by the Amstel Quartet and Maria McGarry on 16 May.

Amstel Quartet are a Dutch saxophone ensemble renowned for their wide repertoire across notated and popular music. The Quartet will perform a concert of Irish and Dutch new music with in the Kevin Barry Room of the National Concert Hall on 16 May at 8.30pm.

The concert is part of the NewSoundWorlds monthly series curated by composer Siobhán Cleary, and features a guest appearance by pianist Maria McGarry, who will perform Cleary’s Conachlann with the Amstel Quartet. Cleary will discuss the techniques behind the piece. Jane O’Leary’s riverrun, Ian Wilson’s her charms invited, Otto Ketting’s Close Harmony, Fant de Kanter’s FEINT, and Albert van Veenendaal’s Minor Incidents, the last two of these being world premieres, are also on the programme.
