The Donegal Chamber Orchestra, which features students and amateur musicians from across the county, is seeking new members for the 2012—2013 season. Auditions are open for violin, viola, double bass and cello players. The minimum age limit is thirteen years.

Auditions will take place on Saturday, 10 March 2012 between 1pm and 3.30pm. Applicants will need to play a number of scales and perform a short solo work as well as do a sight-reading test. See here for a full list of requirements.

The Donegal Chamber Orchestra has worked with guest artists such as the violinist Darragh Morgan, Irish-Romanian cellist Mihai Dancila, the Spanish string orchestra Concerto Malaga and the Italian conductor Massimo Paris. The orchestra aims to expose members to ‘the building blocks of professional musicianship through chamber music literature, as well as to open their minds to the study and practice of contemporary music and alternative styles’.
