Applications are being sought for the 2013 Yamaha Music Foundation of Europe Scholarship Awards. The foundation has been providing financial assistance as well as performance opportunities to music students since 1989.
The focus of the award rotates between five categories — piano, brass and woodwind, orchestral Strings, percussion, and voice — every year. The 2013 scholarships are geared towards percussion students.
The scholarships are open to students in the UK and Ireland, currently studying music full-time at a higher education institution, and born after 1 January 1988.
Four prizes, worth £2,000 each, will be awarded, with three awards given in the UK and one in Ireland. Finalists for in the Republic of Ireland will be invited to perform before a panel of judges at the Royal Irish Academy of Music on 27 February 2013.
