Choral Music Seminar in Limerick

The workshop and seminar are free and are open to students, teachers, singers, conductors and anyone interested in the field of choral music.

Irish World Academy of Music and Dance, in association with Music Generation and the Association of Irish Choirs, presents a lunchtime open workshop and afternoon seminar with internationally renowned music educationalist Professor Mary Goetze from University of Indiana.

The panel will include Rosaleen Molloy, Director of Music Generation, Liz Powell, CEO, Association of Irish Choirs and Dr. Wolodymyr Smishkewych, Course Director, MA Ritual Chant and Song, Irish World Academy, and will be chaired by Helen Phelan, Associate Director, Irish World Academy of Music and Dance.

Wednesday 16 November

1.10-2pm (open workshop) and 2.30 - 5 pm (seminar)
Tower Theatre, Irish World Academy, University of Limerick.

The workshop and seminar is for students, teachers, singers, conductors and anyone interested in the field of choral music.
The open workshop will be led by Professor Goetze and will commence with an introduction to conducting children’s choirs, featuring the children’s choir of St. Nessan’s School, Mungret.

The second part of the workshop is open to any choral singer or conductor who wishes to participate. Potential participants need to contact the Academy at the contact details below in advance of the workshop. The Irish World Academy ensemble, Lucernarium, will also feature in the workshop.

The seminar will include a presentation from Dr. Goetze and responses from a panel of choral experts and practitioners. The focus of the seminar is on choral music practice and training opportunities in Ireland.
