Cinesonika is an annual Canadian festival showcasing works of film and video with fascinating soundtracks, idiosyncratic sound design, eclectic scoring and innovative approaches to the sound-image relationship.
In February 2013, the works will also be screened in a weekend festival at the School of Creative Arts, University of Ulster, Derry/Londonderry, and Cinesonika is now accepting submissions. The deadline is 15 November 2012.
Works previously featured at the Cinesonika festival include Helen Judge’s 100% Shredded Wheat, which combines a piece of elevator music produced by the Seeburg Corporation – a version of ‘I’ll be Home for Christmas’ – with iconography from her Catholic upbringing and common shopping brands.
