The Contemporary Music Centre’s (CMC) four-part concert series focussing on music for solo instruments kicks off on Thursday, 9 August, at 6.30pm, in Exchange Arts Centre, Temple Bar, Dublin.
Featuring harpist Andreja Malir, the concert programme includes works by Brian Boydell and Philip Martin. Boydell’s A Pack of Fancies for a Travelling Harper is a sixteen minute long piece originally written for the 1971 Dublin Festival of Twentieth Century Music. Martin’s Les Anges de St Julien dates from 1996. Both scores are available from the CMC shop.
Entrance to the concert is free. The series continues on 16 August with a recital from accordionist Dermot Dunne, featuring music by Deirdre Gribbin and James Wilson.
