First Aran Trad Fest

First Aran Trad Fest

The performers are Frankie Gavin & Dé Dannan; the Cunningham Family dancers; All Ireland Talent Show winners, the Mulkerrin brothers; Galway bands Dalta and Cogar; local band the Jacks; and trio Paudie Walsh, Mike McGrath and Sean Flanagan.

Having had to postpone the event in September, the first ever Irish traditional music festival on Inis Mór, the Aran Trad Fest, is instead taking place this bank holiday weekend, Friday, 28 to Sunday, 30 October. Organised by local business owners Penny Fitzpatrick, Clodagh Mullin and Keith Madigan, ‘to give it a go’ as Fitzpatrick puts it, they have lined up a weekend of concerts, sean-nós dancing and singing, open music sessions, and a céilí.

There will be a sean-nós dancing workshop with Ashline Cunningham on Saturday.

The céilí mór will take place in Halla Rónáin on Saturday night, and with the forecast looking good, Penny Fitzpatrick is hopeful for the open air session on Sunday afternoon at the Cross and the charity walk/run for the Irish Cancer Society.
