Gospel Rising

The annual gospel music festival brings together performers and enthusiasts for concerts and workshops in Bray 11 – 13 May

The Dublin Gospel Choir

The annual Gospel Rising Music Festival has been held in a different town each year since its opening in 2010. This year the festival will be held in Bray, Co. Wicklow, with events taking place in hotels, pubs and churches around the town.

Though over fifteen choirs are performing at the festival, including the Legato Singers, Dublin Gospel Choir, Limerick Gospel Choir, A Glór, and the event’s own Gospel Rising Children’s Choir, the focus of the weekend is on learning and experiencing. Enthusiasts and fans, whether in choirs or not, can take part in workshops across the weekend. These workshops vary in subject and depth, covering arranging harmonic textures, innovative gospel singing, contemporary gospel, many aspects of solo performance, choreography and songwriting. The Friday night’s opening workshop will be led by David Jackson, formerly of the Harlem Gospel Choir. There will also be a final recording workshop at which all participants will record a song learned over the weekend.

Full weekend ticket price is €60, and €30 deposit must be paid to secure a place on the workshops. You can also purchase places on individual workshops.
