Guidewires at the Harcourt Sessions

Guidewires (Tóla Custy on fiddle, Pádraig Rynne on concertina, Sylvain Barou on flute, Paul McSherry on guitar and Karol Lynch on bouzouki) are playing the Harcourt Sessions next Monday, 27 February.

Guidwires (Tóla Custy on fiddle, Pádraig Rynne on concertina, Sylvain Barou on flute, Paul McSherry on guitar and Karol Lynch on bouzouki) are playing the Harcourt Sessions next Monday, 27 February. Although individual members have been playing on various occasions in Dublin (most recently, Barou and Rynn played in a trio with Dónal Lunny in one of the Liffey Banks Sessions gigs last year, and Custy played along with Gerry O’Beirne and Solo Cissohoko as part of the Trí60 series in the National Concert Hall), it’s been a few years since the group itself played a gig in Dublin.

They have performed in Galway, Derry and Belfast in recent weeks, and according to Custy particularly enjoyed playing at the Arches in Glasgow in January as part of the Celtic Connections festival, ‘sharing the occasion with the mighty new combination that is Kan’ (Brian Finnegan and Aidan O’Rourke of Flook and Lau with Ian Stephenson and Jim Goodwin). They have a new project coming up later in the year themselves so stay with The Journal of Music for more information on that.

Doors open at the Harcourt Hotel, Dublin 2 venue at 9pm, and first up on the night are members of the DIT Trad Soc.
