'We need a population that is willing to rock the boat, stand up and be non-compliant with the status quo,' say the organisers of Trailblaze, which brings together musicians, artists, social entrepreneurs and activists.

A Trailblaze event — bringing together musicians, artists, social entrepreneurs and activists, among others — will take place at the Green Street Courthouse, Smithfield, Dublin, at 7pm on 20 March.

The organisers explain the thinking behind Trailblaze: ‘We need a population that is willing to rock the boat, stand up and be non-compliant with the status quo. Trailblaze presents what is possible when individuals stop asking for permission and step into making their own dreams and ambitions a reality. We are inspired about opening up active conversations that invite audiences and participants to engage with the extraordinary times we occupy individually, locally and globally.’

Participants include DJ Donal Dineen, Avril Stanley of the Body and Soul festival, Malachy Browne of the websites Politico and Storyful, the visual arts curator Aideen Darcy, sustainability expert John Harrington, filmmaker Ruth Meehan, journalist Orla Tinsley and the mental health activist Joan Hamilton.

Musicians Iarla Ó Lionáird and Lisa O’Neill will perform at the event.

Tickets cost €10 and are available from entertainment.ie
