The ICO Premiere John Kinsella Symphony

The ICO Premiere John Kinsella Symphony

The Irish Chamber Orchestra (ICO) will give the premiere of John Kinsella’s tenth symphony in University Concert Hall, Limerick on 9 February.

Kinsella, a disc of whose orchestral works we recently reviewed here, has a close relationship with the ICO, who have performed many of his works over the years, and the new symphony is dedicated to the ensemble. It also celebrates the composer’s eightieth year.

Hungarian Gabor Takacs-Nagy (pictured) will conduct the programme, which also features Liszt’s Angelus!, Beethoven’s Symphony No. 4, Jean Francaix’ The Flower Clock (featuring soloist Daniel Bates). The concert will be repeated in the RDS Concert Hall in Dublin on 11 February.
